Lamoni Magic

Lighted_christmas_tree Lamoni Magic – I love this place!

Could one man’s comments make Christmas for a little girl?  You bet it can! It happened in Lamoni this past Saturday, and it was fun to watch.

Yes, one of the greatest perks to owning a shop on

Main Street
in Lamoni and living above it, is the prime location of my second story living room windows.  I have the best view of Lamoni’s quaint brick
Main Street
for all of the parades…and all of the kind and dear people who choose to call Lamoni home.

This year’s Holiday Lighted Parade was a few days ago.  The M.C. Paul Davis had a larger than life voice. Sammy, my 3-year-old daughter, and I could hear his witty banter from our living room.

Paul looked up and saw us watching from the window.  With mic in hand and a huge smile he boomed, “Merry Christmas, you two up in the window, next to the candles – yes, you!  It’s a great night for a parade!”  Sammy looked up at me and said, “Is he talking to us?”  Let’s go!”

We were bundled and on the street within seconds – just in time to hear Paul say to the children within earshot, “Have you ever seen Santa before – because he’s going to be here TONIGHT!”  All the children were totally focused on the words coming out of Paul’s mouth.

“Have you been good?  Did you know the next three weeks are crucial?  You must do your chores on time, be good to your family, or there will be no presents from Santa! He’s made his list – and he’s checking it!” Her head was bobbing up and down. “Good for you! He cheered, “Keep it up!”

He went on to explain Rudolph’s recent leg injury, which should be healed by Christmas.  Within moments, Santa was transported down the street in a bright red tractor. The driver, Randy Gibson, owner of Lamoni Livestock did three circles in front of our group of children.  Sammy waived excitedly until he drove out of sight.

Float after float of good cheer went by:

Graceland

’s National Championship Men’s Soccer Team ; Living Arts Dance Studio; Funshine Day Care Center; The Optimists Club;  Riders Little_girl_watchingon Horseback; and the

Redemption

Center

.

Every child deserves these moments when generous people look them in the eyes, and smile.  I know this time with her won’t last forever, but I’m soaking it in while I can.

Speaking of holiday good cheer, the Blue Frog is having our ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY open house
